Climate Change
The Four main greenhouse gasses are Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and Fluorinated Gases. Carbon Dioxide enters the atmosphere through the burning of oil, natural gas, and coal, solid waste, trees and wood. It can also be caused by man made substances such as cement manufacturing. A way carbon is removed from the atmosphere is through plants and photo synthesis. Methane is emitted during the production and transport of coal, natural gas, and oil. Methane emissions also result from livestock and by the decay of organic waste in municipal solid waste landfills. And known by many, cows do produce a small fraction of the Methane Emissions. Nitrous Oxide is emitted in ways such as Carbon Dioxide, through the burning of fossil fuels and solid waste. Fluorinated Gases are High Global Warming Potential gases. The synthetic gasses include Hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and Sulfur Hexafluoride. Fluorinated gases are sometimes used as substitutes for ozone depleting substances. The way the greenhouse effect works is like this, when the sun’s rays penetrate the earth’s atmosphere they hit the earth and reflect back out, but standing in their way are greenhouse gasses. Too thick for all the rays to break free, the rays stay inside earth’s atmosphere gradually raising earth’s average temperature. These are the reasons for the bad climate change. A volcanic eruption may send ash and sulfuric acid into the atmosphere, which increases planetary reflectivity causing atmospheric cooling. Over time precipitation will remove these aerosols from the atmosphere. Volcanic eruptions can have a worldwide impact. Although a volcano doesn’t happen much it has a great deal of effectiveness on the environment and its inhabitants. A meteor impact has little effect on the environment. When an object hits the earth it blows up a cloud of dust and other particles.

Earth
has many Renewable resources, but still a lot of non-renewable resources. Renewable resources are resources with the ability of being replaced through natural circumstances. These take a lot of time to renew. In 1962 Paul Weiss defined Renewable Resources as: "The total range of living organisms providing man with food, fibers, drugs, etc..." One common renewable resource is solar energy. Solar energy is the energy derived directly from the Sun, and is the most abundant source of energy on Earth. It is the fastest growing type of alternative energy, increasing at 50 percent a year. Non-renewable resources are resources that that do not have the ability to be replaced over time, naturally. Some non-renewable resources are fossil fuel, coal, radioactive fuel, and Wood (timber).  Fossil fuel, being the most popular type of non-renewable resource is one of the closest to running out. Most of our earth runs on the materials that are extracted from fossil fuels, these include coal, petroleum, and natural gas.

Gret Lakes In the Regional Context

What i learned on the river is first, not to wear waiters with holes in the shoes. they tend not to work the way they're supposed too. I also learned about the different Environmental factors that affect the River and it's chemical levels. I also observed the different life forms that live in the River.
The Overall Q-value of the river was 85.64. I Did expect the water in the river to be a bad quality. I did expect it to be a very unhealthy river system becuase we do not take care of the river. Our action project will produce some chemicals and minerals that will make their way into the river and make it healthier and help the Q-value of the River Increase beneficially.

-The biggest lake in The state would be Lake Superior. The smallest would be Lake Erie.
-The most Urban lake is lake Erie. The most rural is Lake Superior.
-The Lake with the longest shoreline is Lake Huron with 3,181 miles of shoreline.
-We can best manage Our ecosystem by not using our water as waste disposal.
-Two types of pollutants would be, organic wastes and Heated or Cooled Water.
-Preliminary Questions
-To the Lake, River, Or watershed
-Runoff water is the water that runs into the river and picks up wastes on the way.
-Yes, they should go to the same place. because they will help eacother.
-point pollution is polution from one excact point and non-point is fromn alot of different             sources
-the water shed is the area underground that stores thee water for later use.

Nature walk

On the nature walk i was paired up with a nice girl. I got called Shaggy and told that i eat doggy snacks. what i learned on that walk is that many kids enjoy going outdoors instead of being trapped indoors. i also learned a bit about the enviroment and to not eat the bloueberries that are on the semi-tall trees.

Phosphorous connect to our action project through the fact that composting  certain materials and food may release small amounts of phosphorous into the  ground which makes its way into the water supply

What we are doing for our Acton project is composting. we are converting the old dug-out into a giant composting bin for the school. We might also be taking the other one down.

My group is making good progress turnig the dug-out into the composting bin. we are waiting from approvel from the principles and other superiors.

My responsibilities as part of my group include helping taking down the dug-out and helping with the lexus project.

First Post - Global Science

1)  What i want to know about the internet is that if it has any physical effects on the earth. and for technology i wantto learn more about the newer types they are creating. i want to learn about the effetts thtat technology has had on the enviroment. i also want to learn more about what it takes to run the internet. also the amount of work it takes to make a page on the internet.

2) what i want to learn about global science is the polution. Another one is the moon. anothr topic i want to learn abput in global science is ore ways to make the enviroment healthier. i also want to learn about what outer space has effects on in earth's atmosphere.
